Jesus Gonzalez Appointed Inaugural Executive Director of IFCR
We are thrilled to welcome Jesus Gonzalez to our team as Executive Director!
Since our start in 2009, the IFCR has been led by passionate and dedicated CDKL5 parent volunteers. From a small group of families to now a global community of affected patients that continues to grow, it is time for the IFCR to keep growing as well. The hiring of our first Executive Director is an exciting step!
“The CDKL5 community has poured their support into the IFCR, and I am proud that we have grown and are ready to take the organization and this community to the next level! I know this will strengthen our sustainability and help us increase our reach and impact!” shares Karen Utley, IFCR Co-founder, and President.

Jesus is a seasoned nonprofit leader. He is passionate about mission-driven work and his enthusiasm for serving our CDKL5 community is nothing short of infectious! He says, “Joining the ICFR team and working alongside an amazing group of dedicated, passionate, and skilled people is a gift. The work they have done to further the knowledge and treatment of CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder in such a short period of time is remarkable. I believe in their “Starfish Story” to keep going and never give up. I am very grateful and honored to use my nonprofit experience to help families and children affected by CDD in their search to get the help they need and never give up.”
As our Executive Director, Jesus will advance the IFCR’s mission by providing long-term strategic and day-to-day operational leadership of the organization. He will work alongside our board of directors, science director, medical & scientific advisory board, and volunteers to champion the organization’s strategic plan. His presence will enhance our team so that we can continue our work moving CDKL5 forward toward a healthier future.
